2-layer fabric is a common functional laminated fabric, consisting of an outer base fabric and a waterproof breathable membrane directly laminated together, without an independent inner lining layer. It has the characters of lightweight and portability, usually achieved through PU film or TPE film to prevent wind and water, and it has relatively lower cost and simple structure, suitable for daily commuting or light outdoor scenes. It is often used in lightweight winter jacket, sun protection clothes, backpack rain covers, inter tents, etc.
2.5-layer fabric consists of a wear-resistant outer layer directly laminated with a waterproof breathable film (such as PU film lamination or microporous film), and an inner layer using an extremely lightweight anti-adhesion coating or printing instead of traditional fabric, forming a "semi-independent" protective layer. Lightweight design makes it be the preferred choice for summer raincoats, running windbreakers, and city commuting jackets, suitable for short-distance hiking or daily rainproof needs.
